INTERGENERATIONAL Community Garden
Projecting to open in Vista, California
This Project is designed to unite young people, the elderly, veterans and the disabled in a nurturing and vibrant outdoor environment.
Set to launch this spring, the community garden aims to foster a unique educational and social experience, bringing together students from local schools and members of the San Diego community. The garden will serve as a living classroom offering hands-on learning opportunities in horticulture, environmental science, nutrition, and behavioral science while also promoting the values of teamwork, responsibility and community service.

An Engaging environment
We look to engage students alongside seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities, we’re creating a platform for shared learning and meaningful interactions. The garden is not just about growing plants; it’s about cultivating relationships, understanding, and respect across generations and backgrounds.
The Garden Will Feature a Variety of Plantings, Including Vegetable Pots, Flower Beds, and Herb Gardens
All tended by this diverse group of community members. Special programs and workshops will be held regularly, allowing participants to acquire gardening skills, learn about sustainable practices, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of gardening.
For students, it presents a unique opportunity to learn how to design the garden, maintain the garden and lead all ages in their craft (what I consider a ‘domains expert’).

What They’re Saying About Us?
"Finding FCI Caring was a turning point for us. After my father was diagnosed with Parkinson's, we faced countless challenges, from adapting our home to his needs to managing his medical appointments. The financial strain and emotional toll were overwhelming. But the support we received from the Foundation, both in terms of resources and emotional support, has been invaluable. It's not just about the financial help; it’s the understanding and guidance that have made a real difference. They've helped us navigate this journey with dignity and hope."
"As a veteran living with a traumatic brain injury, the path to independence seemed insurmountable. Traditional insurance covered only so much, leaving me to struggle with the gaps in care and necessary home modifications. FCI Caring stepped in when I needed it most, offering support for those overlooked needs. Their help in making my living space accessible and securing the right care has not only improved my quality of life but has also given me a sense of autonomy I thought I’d lost forever."
"Taking care of a loved one with Alzheimer's is a 24/7 job that can drain you physically and emotionally. When we felt all alone in our battle, FCI Caring became our beacon of hope. They understood the hardships we faced, especially the financial burden and the constant worry about providing adequate care. Their assistance with caregiving expenses and the provision of respite care services have been a lifeline for our family. It's more than just help; it's a partnership in care that respects our loved one's needs and dignity."
