STATEMENT OF WORK

Legacy Corps for Veterans and Military Families

About Legacy Corps

The Legacy Corps for Veterans and Military Families (LCVMF) program offers essential support to veterans and military families by providing weekly companionship-based respite care. This program, funded by AmeriCorps and administered through Arizona State University (ASU), was created specifically to support caregivers of veterans and military families, allowing them to care for loved ones at home for longer and reducing the need for facility-based care. Legacy Corps aligns with our mission to help families stay together in their communities.

HOW LEGACY CORPS WORKS

Legacy Corps members visit families weekly, providing companionship for veterans or elderly family members in military households. These visits give caregivers a much-needed break, knowing their loved ones are in good hands. No personal or medical care is provided; instead, AmeriCorps members offer friendly interaction and meaningful activities to enhance each visit.

SERVE WITH LEGACY CORPS

AmeriCorps members are the heart of Legacy Corps, bringing critical support to families who have sacrificed so much. AmeriCorps members receive 10 hours of Pre-Service Training (PST) to equip them with the information and skills needed to succeed. After training, each member is matched with a family, visiting regularly to offer companionship and engaging activities.

Benefits of Serving as a Legacy Corps AmeriCorps Member:

  • Monthly Living Allowance: A stipend to support your time and commitment.
  • Extensive Training and Professional Development: Including skills that help you
thrive in the role and beyond.
  • Education Award: Members who complete the 450-hour service year receive an
award that can support future education or career goals.

Volunteers interested in this meaningful role are encouraged to apply.
